DreamCloud – Pros and Cons

DreamCloud mattress is an excellent choice for people who:

You might not like it if you:

The Construction

This part is essential for an extended lifespan and the overall feel of the mattress. Top quality materials and a manufacturing process that pays a lot of attention to details are the keys to any good product. We can definitely say that DreamCloud checks all of these, as it is very durable, with a luxurious design, and even better functionality that gives you the sleeping experience of a lifetime.

A whopping 15-inch profile consists of 8 layers, each serving a crucial role in the overall comfort and durability. DreamCloud is a hybrid, meaning that it consists of more than one type of standard material used in the production. In this case, it has one latex, many foam layers, and an innerspring core that gives the proper support.

The reason why hybrids are gaining popularity is that they bring the best of all worlds. Coils deliver support, responsiveness, and better ventilation, which increases durability. Memory foam provides closer conforming and pressure relief, while the latex adds a little bounce, ventilation, and resistance to allergens and bugs. All of these features combined add for greater life span, better pressure relief, more responsiveness, proper airflow, sleeping cooler, good motion isolation, stronger edge support, and pretty much everything that you want from a bed.

Let’s get into the details about each layer:

The tufting is a process in which the top layer is connected to the bottom and other layers in between. It adds firmness and durability, but still keeps the unique soft feel of the cashmere. One thing that some people don’t like is that the cover is non-removable, but the company offers free cleaning after a year of ownership or a refurbishing after five years. The cover and the overall design are the details that lift this model above the others on the market, and beside the amazing sleeping experience, it does indeed look like the cloud.

These pads work well with almost every base so that you can use flat platforms, box springs, slats, or put it on the floor. Even though the standard adjustable beds are not recommended, the company sells some models that you can use.

Available Sizes and Pricing

You can purchase all the DreamCloud products directly online, but there are no physical stores where you can buy them. You can also get your mattress from the authorized retailer, and try the DreamCloud there.

Although the DreamCloud comes in all six standard sizes, Twin is currently sold out and are not available at the moment. In the table, we present the other five, as well as their prices.

Delivery, Sleep Trial, and Warranty

DreamCloud mattress is compressed for shipping, and it comes rolled in a bag. The company ships from the distribution center in Washington state, and it usually takes one to five business days. The delivery is coordinated by the FedEx, and available throughout the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. Although the shipping is free for the contiguous US, extra charges may apply for Hawaii and Alaska.

In addition, DreamCloud offers White Glove delivery at a rate of $149, which includes in-home bed assembly and packaging removal. For an additional fee of $20, the personnel will remove your old mattress, provided that it is in sanitary conditions. Keep in mind that the initial item costs $149, and any other that needs assembly will include the additional fee of $45, so the cost can stack up. This doesn’t include items that don’t require setups, such as sheets, pillows, and mattress protectors, and they are delivered free of charge. All these White Glove charges are all non-refundable in the case that you decide to return or exchange your product during the sleep trial.

If you have decided to go with the standard shipping, keep in mind that DreamCloud weighs more than your standard mattress, so you might need additional help to set it up. While unpacking it, it will need some time upon placing it on the foundation to reach its full functionality.

The sleep trial is longer than average, and you’ll have 365 nights to decide if DreamCloud is the right choice for you. It starts after the first 30-day break in period, as it turns out that you need about a month to get used to sleeping on a new mattress. After that, you can return it at any point during the sleep trial if you don’t feel like it is the right choice for you. The company will even work with you to find a suitable organization in your local community where you can donate the mattress. DreamCloud covers all the transportation costs associated with removal or repair. The trial period for other products besides the pad is 50 days.

DreamCloud offers a lifetime warranty for all of their mattresses. It is imperative that you use a solid, stable foundation that can hold the weight of a pad, as well as all the sleepers for as long as you use it. The improper or non-matching base will result in a voided warranty. During the first ten years of ownership, all the costs associated with removal and repair are free of charge, while the fee after that is $100.

Since the cover is non-removable, the company offers one free cleaning after one year of ownership. Also, you are eligible for surface refurbishing after five years, which boosts the freshness of your mattress.

The warranty covers all the indentations and sagging that are over one and a half inch deep. Other physical flaws that cause the layers to open or crack or the manufacturing defects with the cover are under warranty as well. Keep in mind that the company will not replace your product if there is a change in your sleeping preference, and you’d suddenly like different firmness model. There is a natural increase in softness in all mattresses, so keep that in mind when buying yours, and get the one that is slightly firmer than what you would typically prefer. The warranty won’t cover the burns, tears, cuts, stains, and other types of physical damages that are due to misuse or irregular cleaning method.

After the reparation or replacement of the faulty product, the new warranty won’t be issued, but the same one will continue to be valid. It is only so for the original owners who purchased their products through DreamCloud or an authorized retailer. Anyone purchasing from an unauthorized retailer, or the original owner won’t be eligible for warranty coverage.

Sleep Ratings and Customers’ Feedback

The durability of DreamCloud is excellent because the company uses quality materials, and the products are constructed in a way where there is a lot of attention to details. Because of this and the fact that it is a hybrid, you can expect an above average lifespan. The lifetime warranty covers the potential defects, so buying DreamCloud is a safe bet.

The motion isolation is pretty good, although it is not perfect like in all foam models. However, it is far better than an average innerspring, and if you are sharing a bed with your partner or kid, or a pet occasionally likes to jump on your bed, don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing. Another nice feature for co-sleeping is that DreamCloud emits little to no noise when bearing weight, and in combination with good motion isolation, it is a natural fit for couples. On top of that, springs and the latex layer add responsiveness and bounce to this model, which makes it excellent for sex.

Off-gassing has been reported in few rare cases, but the odor dissipates rather quickly, in less than a day. This is completely normal, since there is a lot of foam in the construction, and the mattress is delivered in a packaging where it wasn’t able to breathe.

DreamCloud offers a certain level of conforming, but keep in mind that it is moderately firm, and it deserves a rating of 6.5 on a 1-10 firmness scale. It won’t be a good fit if you like close conforming of an all foam model. With DreamCloud, you feel like you are floating on the surface, rather than sinking in. However, many foam layers provide right contouring, and pressure relief is definitely there, so you don’t have to worry about experiencing shoulder, hip, or back pain again.

Some people have had complaints about inadequate edge support. However, coils encased with firm memory foam should give enough edge support to suit the majority of sleepers. Most testers and users found no problem with this whatsoever and were rather pleased with the ability to sleep on the whole surface of the mattress.

Although DreamCloud has many high-density foam layers, it manages to sleep rather cool. That is thanks to highly breathable cashmere cover, In combination with gel-infused layers, latex, and the innerspring core that allows proper airflow. Because of all these features, DreamCloud is recommended for people who tend to sleep hot or experience night sweats.

DreamCloud also states that due to the unique construction and the design, the mattress is fully resistant to bed bugs, which is nice to know if you’ve ever encountered these annoying little creatures. You might want to consider using a cover, even though the cashmere top is aesthetically pleasing that you might want to leave it without one.

The five-zoned coils are simply amazing, as they will give you the appropriate amount of support for every body type, keeping your spine aligned, and your body free of pain. Even though DreamCloud is excellent for almost every sleeper, it performed a little different when comparing various sleep position, preferences, and body types.

Sleep Position Light Weight (under 130 lbs) Average Weight (130-230 lbs) Heavy Weight (over 230 lbs)
Side Fair Very Good Good
Back Excellent Excellent Excellent
Stomach Good Very Good Fair

As you can see, DreamCloud is perfect for back sleepers. Stomach sleepers and those who tend to switch positions during the night will also find it amazing, while it will still do great for side sleepers as well. DreamCloud is a good fit for heavier individuals, as they often have problems with finding the right foundation to support them, but this 15-inch thick mattress is more than enough. DreamCloud is the least adequate for petite side sleepers and heavier individuals who prefer resting on their stomach, as it doesn’t relieve pressure as efficiently and you might suffer slight pains in the critical spots such as shoulders, hip, or lower back.

The Final Verdict

After reviewing every aspect of the DreamCloud mattress, and reading all the customers’ responses online, we have only one thing to say – DreamCloud is everything that a mattress should be!

Exceptional quality materials, luxurious design, amazing features, perfect construction, and close attention to detail are some of the things that make DreamCloud stand out amongst other models on the market. The most incredible thing about it is that it comes at a fairly affordable price for this quality. Usually, you would expect to pay a few times the amount of what you are going to pay.

If you read our detailed review and you feel like DreamCloud might be a good fit, we say go for it. You won’t find many other models of this quality, especially at this price. It has one of the highest values for money of all the products we reviewed. No wonder it was one of the best selling models on the market in the last year.
